The Braies Lake is considered the pearl of the Dolomite lakes and is located in the nature park “Fannes-Sennes-Braies”. In a rocky basin and overlooked by the majestic Seekofel, it is considered one of the most beautiful lakes of the Dolomites in South Tyrol. In just an hour and a half of easy hiking you will circle the lake. Probably the most exciting alpine experience in the Dolomites: The Three Peaks Nature Park. Together with the other Dolomite peaks, the 3 Peaks were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. The 3 Peaks are the landmark of the Dolomites as well as the natural highlight in the Dolomite region. In 1950, during the damming of the lake, the village of Graun and a large part of the village of Reschen were submerged in the flood waters of the reservoir. Houses and fertile cultural soil were destroyed and flooded. Today, only the church tower jutting out of Lake Reschen bears witness to the sunken village of Alt-Graun. Lake Reschen is very popular with water sports enthusiasts and is the largest lake in South Tyrol with a length of six kilometers.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00d6tzi “The Iceman” is one of the oldest mummies in the world and is estimated to be over 5,000 years old. Together with his complete clothing and belongings, the shepherd was preserved in the ice and found in 1991 by German mountaineers at the Hauslabjoch. Nothing on the body of the glacier mummy has been altered by a burial rite or other human intervention – this is very rarely the case with mummies and makes the man from Similaun special. \u00d6tzi is kept in the Bolzano Archaeological Museum and can be visited there.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The 130 m wide and 300 m long lake is fed by underground springs of the Latemar group. In spring the water level reaches its highest level with 22 m depth. In summer the lake is filled by the melting snow and in October the water level is at its lowest with about 6 m. A circular hike takes you around the Karer Lake in 20 minutes. In winter the “fairy tale lake of the Dolomites” is then frozen and covered with snow.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
